Crakk Movie Poster

The film "Crakk" by Action Hero Films, rated UA, is a sports action movie centered around Siddhu (played by Vidyut Jammwal), a resident of the slums, who embarks on a journey to uncover the truth behind his brother's disappearance. He becomes involved in Maidaan, an underground survival sports competition led by Dev (portrayed by Arjun Rampal), hoping to find answers about his brother, who had also joined Maidaan but never returned.

The narrative, crafted by Aditya Datt, Rehan Khan, Sarim Momin, and Mohinder Pratab Singh, focuses on Siddhu's quest, which, while lacking in excitement regarding his missing brother, delivers intense thrills through the survival sports he engages in to unravel the mystery. Although the screenplay is engaging, it lacks innovation, with the excitement primarily derived from the action sequences rather than the dramatic elements. However, the action sequences are seamlessly integrated into the plot, capturing the audience's attention and ensuring their entertainment. The dialogues, penned by the writing team, are adequate.

Vidyut Jammwal delivers an electrifying performance in the action scenes, providing viewers with a thrilling experience. His portrayal of Siddhu is commendable. Arjun Rampal effectively portrays Dev, exuding charm and fitness. Nora Fatehi, in the role of Alia, has limited screen time but performs adequately. Amy Jackson impresses as Patricia Novak, while Ankit Mohan leaves an impact as Nihal. Supporting actors such as Bijay Anand, Rajendra Shisatkar, and Shalaka S. Pawar contribute well to the film.

Aditya Datt's direction ensures a fast-paced film that keeps the audience engaged throughout. The music, including tracks by Mithoon, Tanishk Bagchi, and Vikram Montrose, enhances the film's mood, despite the absence of standout songs. Lyrics by various artists are appealing, and the song picturizations are satisfactory. Vikram Montrose's background score stands out, adding depth to the scenes. Cinematography by Mark Hamilton, along with additional camerawork, captures the action sequences brilliantly. The stunt coordination by various professionals elevates the film's intensity, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats. Production design and art direction maintain high standards, while Sandeep Kurup's editing ensures a sharp pace.

Overall, "Crakk" offers average storytelling but excels in delivering breathtaking action and stunts, making it a must-watch for action cinema enthusiasts, despite its high production costs.

The film was released on 23-2-'24 in Inox and other cinemas in Bombay through PVR Inox Pictures, with good publicity and a decent opening, aided by discounted ticket prices on Cinema Lovers’ Day. It also had a fair opening in other locations nationwide.
